The Oregon Ducks, A 2010 Season Preview

Posted on

chip kelly’s second year at the helm of the ducks just might even be a bit trickier than his first. there have been numerous off the field issues with players. issues that i really don’t think are coach chip’s fault. kids get arrested all on their own. is it the coaches fault or their upbringing? something else may have an effect on the team this year as well. saint mike belloti took the money from espn and ran all the way to connecticut after only one year as oregon’s athletic director. what lured him way? a no fun job? big time tv money? or something lurking in the wings for duck football?

on a good note, things look fairly good for the ducks this year. that is if the arrests and convictions of starting players slows down a bit. yes, they took some hits this past off season. jeremiah masoli won’t be playing qb this year. a dumb move on his part sealed his fate. a move that seems to plague most of college football these days. plus there are other law enforcement issues with other players on the team. the ducks do have 18 returning starters who so far have avoided getting arrested. that fact alone seems to make several of the pundits happy enough to put the ducks in their top 25 pre-season polls.

at any rate, questions questions questions run amok in this fan’s mind. time to break the season down.

rock ‘n’ roll.

9/4 new mexico at home. this should be an easy win for the ducks if they can find a decent qb to fill masoli’s shoes. yes, they have a couple of guys who did play a bit behind him but i for one am not convinced either can fill anybodies shoes. not yet any the ways. ducks win.

9/11 at tennessee. not an easy game by any means but i think the ducks can pull it off. even with qb issues. ducks win.

9/18 portland st at home. i almost typed i could qb this game and the ducks would still win. what do you know, i did type that. if they can’t win this one, well… ducks win.

9/25 at arizona st. a hot time in arizona. they better be ready for it. ducks ought to win. ducks win.

10/2 stanford at home. not as easy as it looks and if the qb situation is still not settled they will lose. however, the ducks win. convoluted but it’s my blog.

10/9 at washington st. one day again sometime soon, if mike stays with the cougars, they will be team to be reckoned with again. i hope he sticks it out. the ducks win.

10/21 ucla at home. this might be a fun game to watch depending on any number of things going on for each team. home game is the clincher. ducks win.

10/30 at usc. tough road game for the ducks and their first loss of the year. ducks lose.

11/6 washington at home. home game but the huskies have a very good qb. the ducks will by this point probably be playing at least 3 different qb’s per game. ominous. or maybe not. none the less, the ducks lose.

11/13 at california. as usual by this time coach tedford will have lost just about any motivation on the bear’s part. their mid to late season el foldo routine plods on. ducks win.

11/26 arizona at home. a very tough game for the ducks. and one i hope i get to watch. out on a limb here. the ducks win.

12/4 at oregon st. the civil war game. this is oregon st’s year in the pac 10 and BCS. the brothers rodgers need to stay healthy though. the ducks lose.

9 wins and 3 losses. not too shabby at all for my long beloved ducks. although they won’t be going to the rose bowl, the other oregon will be. just remember that i reserve the right to change my opinions on any of these games after the season gets rolling. plus, anything can happen between now and september. by then the whole squad could end up in leavenworth or pelican bay. let’s just hope that’s not the case. is it september yet?

Of course I can not comment on spazzhole, but read the comments there. Got to have someone thinking a little different, or what the hell is the point? So, of course, another $5 on ASU…Ducks do no better than 7-and-5… the QB thing will be the shingles, gout and hemophelia that brings them down and breeds torturous pain and agony in every quackerface in the world – not so much the other deportment issues. But I got to say it cracks me up…daffy ducks in Pelican Bay… HaHa! Love you, old son, but I’ll say it again…GO PRO! The throngs would love ya.

hahaha, damn, ozark, you can sure bring some. nice job. ok. however, the same caveat
as the usc bet, i reserve right to change my mind once stuff gets rolling. as always, i’m flattered bro.

Oh, come on, old son! That’s like picking up your chips from the roulette table once the ball starts rolling. Besides, if you know Coach Erickson, you know he doesn’t know jack-shit about college ball and ASU’s chances of winning half their games is 1-in-10. Tell you what, if I win, I’ll buy you a glass of that good cucu wine with my winnings. If you win, Fat Tire for me on the five you get off my ass. Bet? Either way we both win.

hmmm. seems like i said the same thing about the usc bet and i got no grief behind it. ozark, this is a preview pre-season. erickson could go on a rampage and kill all of his players or kiffin as well. ok. wait. the players are the ones more than likely to do something that stupid. then of course, there’s kelly. the guy with more potential felons than L.A.’s ramparts division on a steamy summer saturday night. god the horror. yeah, ok, bet.

I just let you slide that first time, old son, ’cause I know you love those Trojans. But pulling a nickelback on the quackerheads, well…..Ha! L.A.’s ramparts division…Love it!

i love the ducks even more, ozark. i know you prolly haven’t delved that deep into my archives here but i have gone off on the ducks and their 1958 rose bowl appearence. they lost but i’ve loved em ever since. and for many a year suffered mightily at their so so attempts at quality football. dan fouts not with standing. the trojans came around 1962 after john mckay had been there a couple of years. now that was a coach. john robinson too. ah, well. the bet is on for that game too. seems odd i have to take your money that way but so be it, compadre.

Ten bucks…big deal. College football was invented so guys like us could gamble on who had the best team. Besides, I just might take your cold, hard cash! Ha! Yeah, right. Nothing odd about it, old son…just silly on my part, but, hey, la te mi.

ah, yeah. i pissed away a jackson here and there back when. i prefer not to do so anymore. i’d rather piss them off in other ways. but for the purpose of this and the other blog, ok. done. however, basta. capisco?
