2010 college football predictions week 3

Posted on

sitting on a park bench.  five little girls with bad intent.  hey, aqualung…one of my all time favorite guitar breaks…god, tangents already.  i know i said i’d be gone this week and next.  however, through the good graces of the girl, here i am pounding out this weeks picks from a motel room deep in the heart of new mexico.  just a solid king jack 1 iron away from the rio grande river.  pretty damn sweet if you ask me.  props to the girl for saying i need to do this for week 3 and next week for number four.  yes, even while on vacation.

‘scuse me while i sip some absolut and rocks.  ok.  last week was stellar with 9 for 10 making up for a pretty damn dismal week 1 and a lack bloody luster 3 for 10.  so, over all i’m 12 for 20.  nothing to brag about but above 50%.

rolling thunder and monsoonal rain pounds outside while bright gashes of liquid light hit the early evening sky.  this i gotta watch.  shades of nam and long ago echo deep.  time out.

as always, anything i dish out here is just for fun.  taking anything i say and making book on it would be suicidal at best.  rent.  food.  and vino money come first.  capisco?  good.

rock ‘n’ roll.

9/17  california at nevada.  cal favored by 3.  3?  ok, hmmm.  tedford and the boys fall on hard times?  so it would seem.  yeah, ok, alright.  take nevada to cover or win.  wolves home turf.

9/18  washington st at smu.  smu favored by 22.5 points.  plenty points, kimosabe.  prolly too many.  take the cougars and the pac 10.  washington st covers the spread.  yeah, it’s june jones but smu was not impressive last week.  plus the cougars can’t play whipping boy every week.

9/18  washington at nebraska.  nebraska favored by 3.5 points.  yes, it’s a pac 10 homer’s week.  so sue me.  it might be the vodka, vacation, or the electricity in the air but take the huskies not the huskers.  washington wins.

9/18  byu at florida st.  florida st favored by 9.5 points.  sadly, this ain’t byu’s year.  another loss.  take florida st to win and cover.

9/18  usc at minnesota.  usc favored by 14 points.  14?  crap.  the lane kiffen humps couldn’t manage the spread last week and i wonder if they can this week.  i don’t think so.  take minnesota to cover the spread.

9/18  arizona st at wisconsin.  wisconsin favored by 14 points.  home game badgers.  the smell of roses in the air.  take wisconsin to win and cover.

9/18  louisville at oregon st.  oregon st favored by 18.  a bunch of points but the brothers rodgers still rule.  home game.  take the beaves to roll on.

9/18  notre dame at michigan st.  state favored by 3.5 points.  go spartans.  the domers seem hapless.  i could be wrong but take michigan st.

9/ 18  texas at texas tech.  texas favored by 3.  pretty much a toss up. screw it.  take the red raiders to win and cover.  and as always please visit, http://www.vietnam.ttu.edu

9/18  iowa at arizona.  iowa favored by 2.  in a different year this could be the pre-rose bowl deal.  not this time.  arizona isn’t going to be there.   iowa on the other hand just might be.  2 points.  way toss up. too much early late summer southwestern heat for the boys of the corn.  the sun devils cover or win.  arizona, take em.

there ya go, kids.  week 3 picks.  as always, keep your money in your wallet and nobody gets hurt.  enjoy the games.  the season will be over before you know it.  me?  heading out again to watch the light show and sip some more swedish nectar.  salute.

Can’t really get excited about any of these games, save for the Texas vs. Tech, and now that Tech canned the mad scientist, it’s hard for me to even get up for that. How was week 1 better matchups?

Week 3 I like all your picks except Nebraska will win not the Huskies. Last week you was the man way to go.

probably not after this weeks wash-out. right teams that can’t make the spread.
