2010 college football predictions week 4

Posted on Updated on

this is the un-edited vacation edition of this weeks picks. jmh

after a not so stellar week 3’s 4 for 10 i plod on as usual.  a good week in that i did pick the majority of the winners but some of the humps couldn’t manage covering the spread.  a sad deal indeed.  but the sad fate of the football wagering dumb ass.

so, 4 for 10 last week.  16 for 30 overall.  a shade over 50% and a number i’ll take at this point.  just remember anything i yammer on about here is just for fun.  taking said yammering and going to vegas or some obscure native american casino that has a sports book and using your rent money or mortgage money on some sort of weird ass parlay would be stupid at best.

just remember, for fun, and if the odds or spread changes it matters not as i use what is here for who wins or doesn’t.  capisco?  i can only hope.

rock ‘n’ roll.

9/24  tcu at smu.  tcu favored by 18 points.  yeah, probably.  however, there is that possibility that 18 might be too many points.  screw it, june jones or not, take tcu to win and cover.

9/25  virginia tech at boston college.  virginia favored by 4 points.  home game.  take the other catholic school to win or cover.

9/25  ucla at texas.  texas favored by 16.5 points.  last week the bruins showed some class and football magic over houston.  tell you what, texas wins but not by 16.5 points.  take ucla to cover.

9/25  alabama at arkansas.  bama favored by 7.5 points.  this is an early big time match-up.  the tide rolls on.  but it won’t be easy.  the back brain screams take the hogs but no deal there.  bama wins and covers.

9/25  oregon st at boise st.  boise st favored by 16.5 points.  the last gasp at stopping the smurf turf and some sort of dumb ass move into a big dance title game.  the brothers rodgers shine.  the beaves may lose but they will at least get into that 16.5 points.  take the beavers, kids.

9/25  stanford at notre dame.  the golden domers favored by 4.5 points.  stanford is one of the under achievers this year.  perhaps the domers as well.  time for the cardinal to step it up.  yeah, crap.  take stanford to win or cover.

9/25  nevada at byu.  nevada favored by 5.5 points.  not a year for byu.  a year for nevada reno.  simple enough.  however, perhaps the smart money would be on byu.  since when have i been smart?  exactly.  take nevada to win and or cover.

9/25  w. virginia at lsu.  lsu favored by 8 points.  i’m a bit surprised lsu is only favored by the 8 points.  oh well, take lsu to win and cover.

9/25  california at arizona.  arizona favored by 6.5 points.  writing this from a motel room just south of flagstaff in the heat and lingering monsoonal bullshit of the southwest, the wildcats will thump tedford and his boys.  take it to the bank.  arizona wins and or covers.

9/25  oregon at arizona st.  the ducks favored by 10.5 points.  yeah, the lingering heat and monsoon remain here in az.  with any luck at all none of that matters and the ducks roll on and over one of the bottom dwellers of the pac 10.  it just might be too many points…but screw it, ducks win and or cover.  GO DUCKS.  QUACK QUACK!!

another stellar week of college football, kids.  don’t miss it because it will be over before you know it.  the precious season, college football. gone and done in the wink of an eye.  not like the nba or even mlb that plod on and on and on and on ad nauseam.  screw that.  the nba in particular.  and the coming nfl 18 game season as well.

ok.  yeah, i’m an old dumb ass old guy.  your point?  just as i thought, there is none.  enjoy the games and leave your money in your wallet where it belongs and you’ll come out smelling like a rose.  some good stuff on the board this week, savory it.  the eye blinks and it’s gone.

i’m rooting for boise st. i’d love to see them win it all but i can’t imagine that the bastards at the BCS would ever let that happen.

be that as it may, they did win but failed to cover the spread. that’s what irks me, just like the majority of my picks this week.
